MEN’S FOOTBALL: Jamie Gullan scored twice as St Johnstone thumped Greenock Morton 5-0 to climb five points clear in the Scottish Championship after second-placed Partick Thistle could only manage a 0-0 draw with Raith Rovers. Arbroath continued their recent good form with a 2-0 win at bottom club Ross, Queen’s Park cruised to a 3-0 victory at Airdrieonians and Ayr United held on to secure a 3-2 success in Dunfermline.
MEN’S BOXING: Darlington-born Troy Williamson became a two-weight British champion after taking Callum Simpson’s British, commonwealth and European super-middleweight titles with a tenth round stoppage on Saturday night in Leeds. Simpson was knocked down four times in the tenth round on the way to suffering his first defeat in 19 bouts. Williamson had lost four of his last six fights but previously held the British light-middleweight title.
DARTS: Bristol’s Dom Taylor was disqualified from the second round of the World Championships before his match with Jonny Clayton after failing a random drugs test at the tournament on Friday. Ranked as the world’s 60th best player Taylor, who beat Sweden’s Oscar Lukasiak 3-0 in the first round, had previously served a one month suspension in January for taking a non-performance enhancing drug out of competition.
MEN’S FOOTBALL: Larne edged to a 1-0 win at struggling Crusaders to move three points clear in the Irish Premiership with two games in hand after Glentoran had come from behind to beat second-placed Coleraine 2-1. Defending champions Linfield suffered a 1-0 loss at bottom of the table Glenavon, Bangor drew 1-1 with Cliftonville, Sean McAllister netted an eight-minute hat-trick as Dungannon saw off Portadown 4-2 and Carrick drew 1-1 at Ballymena.
