MEN’S FOOTBALL: The Champions League continues tomorrow evening with more third qualifying round first leg ties. Among the fixtures two-time European Cup winners Benfica visit Ineos-owned Nice, 1991’s winners Red Star Belgrade are at Lech Poznan and Feyenoord, who picked up the trophy in 1970, play Fenerbahce. Third qualifying round winners advance to the play-offs while losers drop into the Europa League.

SPEEDWAY: Defending Premiership champions Belle Vue came from 14 points down to grab a 45-45 draw with Ipswich before losing their unbeaten home record when the Witches won the tie-breaking Super Heat. Ipswich now top the Premiership by a point from Belle Vue with a game in hand. Monday’s other meetings saw third-placed Sheffield ease to a 59-31 at bottom club Birmingham and Leicester cruise past King’s Lynn 54-36.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Super League table-toppers Hull Kingston Rovers will be without half-back Tyrone May for their upcoming fixtures at home to Castleford and away at Wigan after he received a two-game ban for “questioning the integrity of a match official.” May was originally sin-binned for the offence during their 74-12 thrashing of bottom club Salford last Thursday. His current contract with Hull KR expires at the end of the season.

MEN’S CRICKET: Ravindra Jadeja topped the batting averages on 86 in the recent England v. India test series. Joe Root, who had one less innings, notched up England’s best at 67.13. Indian captain Shubman Gill scored 754 runs, over 200 more than Root, during the five matches to bag the top scorer award and Mohammed Siraj continued India’s dominance as the highest wicket taker, with 23. He also bowled the most overs.
