Manchester Thunder lead the Super League by just one goal’s difference after they swept to a 70-46 win at Saracens on Sunday evening and second-placed reigning champions Loughborough brushed aside Cardiff 69-41.
Sigrid Burger scored 49 goals as the Severn Stars beat Surrey 72-55, London Pulse saw off bottom club Strathclyde 66-45 and Joyce Mvula hit 54 goals in Leeds Rhinos’ 67-51 win at Team Bath.
CYCLING:
World champion Mathieu van der Poel’s second successive Paris-Roubaix win was achieved with the fastest ever average speed of 47.8km/h, beating the record he set last year by over a kilometre an hour.
He also set a new record for the longest solo ride to victory after attacking over 60 kilometres from Sunday’s finish line.
Runner-up Jesper Philipsen and third-placed Mads Pedersen were both three minutes behind the winner.
MEN’S FOOTBALL:
Pontypridd United host Aberystwyth in a crucial Cymru Premier relegation battle tomorrow evening.
With just six games to go, Aberystwyth sit just outside the drop zone, one point ahead of Pontypridd with bottom club Colwyn Bay only another point further back.
At the other end of the table, already crowned champions The New Saints look to continue their unbeaten season when they take on third-placed Bala.
MEN’S ICE HOCKEY:
Anthony Rinaldi scored twice as Dundee won 4-1 at Fife on Sunday night to seal their spot in the Elite League’s end of season play-offs.
That result also ensured that Nottingham missed out despite their 3-2 overtime win against Manchester.
Dundee are paired with Cardiff in the two-legged quarter-finals, reigning champions Belfast face Coventry, Manchester play Guildford and runaway league winners Sheffield meet Fife.
