Slovenia's Tadej Pogacar crosses the finish line to win the Tour of Flanders cycling race, in Oudenaarde, Belgium, April 5, 2026

CYCLING: Tadej Pogacar continued his superb form by winning Sunday’s Tour of Flanders, finishing over half a minute ahead of Mathieu van der Poel. It’s the third time in four years that the Slovenian world champion has won the race.

Remco Evenepoel was third with Lewis Askey the highest-placed Briton over six minutes behind Pogacar in 21st.

Dutch rider Demi Vollering won the women’s race ahead of Pauline Ferrand-Prevot and Puck Pieterse.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: With three months to go until kick-off, this year’s Magic Weekend is already guaranteed to break its all-time attendance record.

The annual two-day six-match event returns to Liverpool in July, making its debut at Everton’s new 53,000 capacity Bramley-Moore Dock stadium.

First held at Cardiff in 2007, Magic Weekend has been staged in six different cities with the crowd record of 68,276 set at Newcastle’s St James’ Park in 2016.

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Hearts won 1-0 at Glasgow City on Sunday to move two points clear at the top of the Premier League.

Former leaders Glasgow have now lost their last three games.

Hibernian drew 0-0 with Partick Thistle after Kathleen McGovern missed a second-half penalty, bottom of the table Hamilton remain without a win after going down 4-0 at Motherwell and Montrose scored two late goals to edge out Aberdeen 2-1.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Daniel Farke admits Leeds will be underdogs in their FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea in a couple of weeks, but insists they are “greedy” to go even further.

The Whites, who won a penalty shoot-out against West Ham to reach Wembley, can take heart from their results against Chelsea this season, having beaten them at Elland Road and battled back from 2-0 down to grab a point in west London.
