Warwickshire moved into second place thanks to a 41-run win over Essex. Former professional footballer Keith Barker took 4-29 and Beau Webster bagged 2-4 as Essex struggled to 164 all out in their second innings.
MEN’S BASKETBALL: 2024 runners-up Bourg-en-Bresse are in Istanbul tomorrow evening for the first leg of the EuroCup final against Besiktas. The teams qualified with the regular season’s joint-best records of 13 wins, but Besiktas did beat Bourg in both of their clashes. Besiktas overwhelmed city rivals Bahcesehir College in their semi-final while Bourg-en-Bresse needed three games to edge past Ankara’s Turk Telecom.
SPEEDWAY: Jaimon Lidsey top-scored with 15+1 points as Northampton Foxes made their Premiership debut in a 50-40 defeat at King’s Lynn in the Knock-Out Cup. Chris Harris led the way for King’s Lynn with 12+2 points from five rides. Monday’s other meeting saw the Belle Vue Aces come from 8 points down after five heats to thump defending champions Ipswich Witches 51-39. Belle Vue captain Brady Kurtz top-scored with 17 points.
MEN’S FOOTBALL: Four days after sealing their 13th Bundesliga title in 14 years, Bayern Munich face Bayer Leverkusen in tomorrow evening’s first German Cup semi-final. Munich have lost just once in the league, to Augsburg in January, and have scored 109 times in just 30 games. Harry Kane’s goal against Stuttgart on Saturday took his season’s tally to 50 in all competitions and 139 in 136 games since joining the club.
MEN’S GOLF: The PGA Tour has confirmed there will be no planned events in Hawaii on the 2027 calendar.
Hawaii has traditionally hosted season-opening events in January, but this year’s The Sentry tournament in Maui was cancelled after an alternative venue from the Plantation Course at Kapalua could not be secured due to drought conditions around the islands.
The PGA Tour stated more details regarding the 2027 schedule would be shared “at a later date.”
WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: England have moved up one place to third in the latest Fifa women’s world rankings.
Sarina Wiegman’s side beat top-ranked Spain 1-0 in their World Cup qualifier at Wembley last week, which was followed by a narrow win away to Iceland.
World champions Spain — runners-up to the Lionesses at Euro 2025 — remain top ahead of the United States, with Germany dropping to third and Japan moving up three places to fifth.
WOMEN’S CRICKET: Sky Sports is set to make England, Ireland and Scotland’s group-stage fixtures from this summer’s Women’s T20 World Cup free to air, alongside the final of the tournament.
The broadcaster has exclusive rights to the competition but is making all 12 home-nation group games available on its app without a subscription.
The opening match between England and Sri Lanka on June 12, as well as the Lord’s final on July 5, will also screen on Freeview and YouTube.
WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Arsenal forward Stina Blackstenius has signed a new contact with the Women’s Super League club.
The Sweden international, 30, has scored 64 goals in 152 appearances for the Gunners since arriving from BK Hacken in 2022.
Blackstenius scored the only goal as Arsenal won last season’s Champions League final against Barcelona in Lisbon.
