ICE HOCKEY: Canadian forward Kohen Olischefski scored twice as Cardiff Devils beat Sheffield Steelers 5-2 to win Sunday’s Elite League play-off championships. The Devils had seen off Glasgow 3-1 in Saturday’s semi-final while Sheffield thumped Manchester 6-0 in their last-four clash. Cardiff had finished second behind Belfast in the regular season with Sheffield in fourth. Glasgow edged Manchester 3-2 to win the third-place match.
MEN’S CRICKET: Rawalpindiz are looking for their first Pakistan Super League win in eight games when they face second-placed Multan Sultans in Karachi tomorrow afternoon. Rawalpindiz went down by 32 runs to Lahore Qalanders in their last game, while the Sultans beat second-bottom Karachi Kings by 11 runs on Sunday with spinner Arafat Minhas taking 3-32. Tomorrow’s other match sees the Qalanders host Quetta Gladiators at the Gaddafi Stadium.
CYCLING: Double Olympic gold medallist Remco Evenepoel beat last year’s winner Mathias Skjelmose in a sprint finish to win Sunday’s Gold race. Benoit Cosnefroy was third with James Shaw the highest placed Briton in 46th. Spain’s Paula Blasi won the women’s race by 27 seconds from Kasia Niewiadoma and Demi Vollering after making a solo attack with almost 20km to go. Britain’s Pfeiffer Georgi was 31st.
NETBALL: Loughborough Lightning are still undefeated and remain three points clear in the Super League after they cruised past London Mavericks 73-56 and second-placed defending champions London Pulse beat Leeds 66-54 on Sunday evening. Bottom of the table Birmingham went down 54-70 at home to Nottingham Forest and despite Georgia Rowe netting 45 goals the Dragons let a half-time lead slip in their 55-67 loss in Manchester.
