MEN’S FOOTBALL: A first-half penalty from Aramide Oteh and a late Jac Clay own goal helped defending champions The New Saints to a 2-0 win at Cardiff Met that keeps them a point clear in the Cymru Premier after second-placed Penybont edged past Newtown 2-1.

Bala slumped to a 3-0 defeat in Connah’s Quay, Barry Town drew 1-1 with Haverfordwest, who now sit eleven points off the pace in third, and Caernarfon beat Flint Town 3-0.

MEN’S BASKETBALL: Semi Ojeleye sank five three-pointers to top-score with 20 points as Valencia gained a narrow 96-91 win at Lithuania’s Panevezys and became the first team to qualify for this year’s EuroCup quarter finals.

Besiktas came from behind to squeeze out Vilnius 79-77 and keep their play-off hopes alive while Olimpija Ljubljana beat Jerusalem 74-70 and the struggling Trentino Dolomites overwhelmed Ulm 86-71.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Following the postponement of nearly all last weekend’s Challenge Cup games not one third-round tie was confirmed during an almost farcical draw broadcast live by the BBC online.

The last fixture out of the hat saw Waterhead Warriors or Leigh Miners or Featherstone Rovers against Blackbrook, the Longhorns or Ince Road Bridge.

Cup-holders Wigan will travel to either the Sheffield Eagles, West Bowling or Castleford-based Cutsyke Raiders.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Belfast neighbours Glentoran and Cliftonville will meet in the Northern Irish League Cup final after both teams secured extra-time semi-final wins late on Tuesday night.

Glentoran let a two-goal lead slip before eventually seeing off Crusaders 4-2 while Destiny Ojo scored in the 117th minute as Cliftonville edged to a 1-0 win at Larne, who had Shaun Want sent off early in the second half.
