Scottish Labour says free bus passes should be enshrined in law

FREE bus travel for pensioners should be protected by law, Scottish Labour has said.

The party’s transport spokesman Colin Smyth announced plans on Saturday to seek to amend legislation to enshrine free travel as a legal right when Holyrood returns from recess.

He said: “Sadly, the scheme is now under threat with SNP ministers refusing to rule out increasing the age citizens can qualify for a pass in a bid to try and save money.
