Scotland editor's welcome
by Conrad Landin

WELCOME to the inaugural Scottish edition of the Morning Star.

Since I was appointed Scotland editor in March, I’ve worked to build the paper’s profile and value north of the border. We’ve introduced regular coverage of Scottish politics and a new weekly column on all things Caledonian. We’ve expanded our coverage of Scottish cultural events, from gigs in Glasgow to theatre in Pitlochry.

But for a small paper with one edition, it can often be a struggle to give Scottish news — including industrial stories which get little coverage in the rest of the media — the emphasis it deserves.
