MEN’S CURLING: Scotland beat Sweden 6-5 after an extra end to win the European Championships in Aberdeen on Saturday and claim their third successive title.
Skipper Bruce Moat’s earned his fourth European gold medal but is still three behind defeated Swedish captain Niklas Edin’s haul of seven.
The Scots are the most successful team in Euros history with 16 title wins. Switzerland overcame Italy 8-4 to take the bronze medal.
WHEELCHAIR RUGBY LEAGUE: England hit back from last week’s 34-43 home defeat to France with a 34-14 win in Marseille. England led 18-4 at half-time and player of the match Jack Brown sealed victory with a late try after French captain Florian Guttadoro was sin-binned for foul play.
England and France remain the dominant forces in international wheelchair rugby league with England prevailing 28-24 when they met in last year’s World Cup final.
MEN’S FOOTBALL: While Harry Kane grabs the headlines after scoring his 22nd goal in 17 appearances for Bayern Munich in a 1-0 win at Cologne, it’s Bayer Leverkusen that top the Bundesliga, two points clear of Kane’s team.
Leverkusen equalled the German League record for the best start to a season, seeing off Werder Bremen 3-0 to take them to eleven wins and a draw from their first 12 matches.
TENNIS: Great Britain have been awarded a wild card into the group stage of next year’s Davis Cup.
It is the third time Leon Smith’s team have been given free passage since the new format was introduced in 2019 and means they avoid having to play a qualifying match in February and will go straight through to the first part of the finals in September, where they are again likely to host a group.
