MEN’S FOOTBALL: Germany won their first-ever Under-17s World Cup after beating France on penalties in Saturday’s final in Surakarta, Indonesia.
The French had come from two down to draw 2-2 in normal time after German midfielder Winners Osawe had been sent off for receiving his second yellow card in the 69th minute.
German goalie Konstantin Heide saved two penalties in the shoot-out and claimed the man-of-the-match award.

New Zealand are currently ranked as the world’s fifth-best Test team with Bangladesh back in ninth.
