CYCLING:

Remco Eveneopol, current wearer of the world champion’s iconic rainbow bands shirt, will lead a star-studded Belgian team as he attempts to defend the title at this September’s Championships in Glasgow.

Joining Evenepoel are Wout Van Aert, current Tour de France green jersey wearer Jasper Philipsen, Tiesj Benoot, Nathan Van Hooydonck, Frederik Frison and classics specialists Jasper Stuyven, Yves Lampaert, and Victor Kampanaerts.

SPEEDWAY:

Tom Brennan top-scored with 10+4 as Belle Vue saw off Ipswich 49-41 to claim an aggregate point win and stay 10 points clear in the Premiership.

Second-placed Leicester, who have six matches in hand, thumped struggling King’s Lynn 54-36.

Bottom club Peterborough gained their first away point of the season with a shock 45-45 draw at Wolverhampton, who took the super heat 7-2 to claim a winning draw.

MEN’S FOOTBALL:

There’s more Scottish League Cup action tomorrow night as Kelty Hearts look to bounce back from Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Greenock Morton when they visit the Meadowbank Stadium to take on FC Edinburgh in a Group D fixture.

Cowdenbeath, now plying their trade in the Lowland League, also have the chance to get their campaign up and running tomorrow evening when they travel to Arbroath in Group H.

MEN’S CRICKET:  

While the Test Match will be grabbing the headlines, another round of County Championship matches begin tomorrow with Division One table-toppers Surrey playing near-neighbours Middlesex at Lords and second-placed Essex taking on Kent in Chelmsford.

Bottom club Northamptonshire host Somerset, Nottingham face Hampshire and Lancashire, who lost their unbeaten record against Essex last week, are at Edgbaston to play Warwickshire.
