RUSSIA launched a massive aerial attack against Ukraine today, firing 93 cruise and ballistic missiles and almost 200 drones, according to Volodymyr Zelensky.
The Ukrainian president called it one of the heaviest bombardments of the country’s energy sector since Russia’s invasion nearly three years ago.
Ukrainian defences shot down most missiles by using F-16 warplanes provided by Western allies earlier this year.
The strike was in retaliation for Wednesday’s Ukrainian attack using the US-supplied Army Tactical Missile System on a Russian air base, Moscow said.
In Geneva, Ukrainian feminist activist group Femen staged a protest outside the United Nations building today against the war and the bloc’s failure to stop it.
Two topless women used a chainsaw to cut into a wooden monument known as the Broken Chair, which symbolises dismemberment caused by land mines.
The action was a call to ban the weapons which have also been used in the war.
“Ukraine has become a victim of betrayal and military aggression, and the world cannot cover itself with monuments, remaining indifferent while we are being destroyed,” Femen said.
