Progress being made in Gaza ceasefire talks, officials say
Palestinians walk through the destruction in the wake of an Israeli air and ground offensive in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip, January 7, 2025

MEDIATORS are making progress in talks to bring about a ceasefire in the fighting between Israeli forces and Palestinian fighters, officials said today.

A truce in the fighting would also bring about an exchange of Palestinian prisoners held by the Israelis and a release of hostages taken by Hamas and its allies during its attack on October 7 2023.

This follows the release of a damning new report detailing horrific examples of torture of Palestinian prisoners held by the Israelis.
