OCS workers at Edinburgh Airport announce wave of strikes

MORE than 100 OCS Group workers will begin a wave of strikes next month as part of a long-running pay dispute at Edinburgh airport.

The Unite union members, who aid passengers with reduced mobility issues, overwhelmingly rejected management’s £12.60 per hour offer, matching the Scottish Living Wage, branding it the “lowest possible.”

Now, with feelings running high enough in the workforce — 100 per cent support for strike action on a 90 per cent turnout — Unite has announced a series of seven 48-hour stoppages throughout September, beginning on September 3.

Unite industrial officer Carrie Binnie said: “OCS workers are vital to assisting passengers with mobility issues at Edinburgh airport.

“The company’s management should be valuing and rewarding the workers instead it has tabled an insulting poverty pay offer.

“OCS has a matter of days to resolve this dispute before strike action starts, which will be entirely its fault.”

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham added: “We will back our members all the way in their fight for better jobs, pay, and conditions at Edinburgh airport.”

OCS Group was contacted for comment.
