MARY FOWLER and Aoba Fujino are expected to be available for Manchester City’s Women’s Super League meeting with Leicester on Friday.
Fowler had her season cut short in April last year with an anterior cruciate ligament rupture and featured from the bench in City’s 5-1 triumph over Chelsea earlier in February.
Boss Andree Jeglertz provided an update on the pair after Fowler missed the Arsenal game with a knock and Fujino due to a concussion sustained against the Blues.
He told a press conference: “I expect both of them will be available on Friday. Mary got a knock in training last week but is back again this week and available for Friday.
“We had a full squad in training except for those with long-term injuries.”
City go into this weekend’s round of fixtures eight points clear at the top, despite having their 13-game WSL winning run ended with a 1-0 loss to Arsenal.
The game was a third successive appearance from the bench for January signing Sam Coffey and Jeglertz has been pleased with her impact.
He said: “She has brought a lot of things. We are a group with a lot of good football players and we added another one with Sam’s quality.
“She is a bit different from the other ones. She is a more physical player than the other ones in that position and is more of a leader also, speaking a little bit more, taking more leadership in that on the field.
“So she’s a little different to others and that helps the dynamic of the team even better.”
A host of other Women’s Super League fixtures will take place on Sunday, with Everton hosting West Ham, Liverpool visiting Chelsea, Manchester United facing London City Lionesses, Aston Villa welcoming Tottenham and Brighton taking on Arsenal.
Forward looks to put injury frustration behind her to spearhead WSL campaign
