Liverpool protesters take to the streets over violence against women
UK Women's March members and supporters protest against violence against women and girls including Trans women, Liverpool, August 9, 2025

WOMEN in Liverpool joined the national UK Women’s March on Saturday to protest against misogyny, transphobia and violence against women and girls.

Some 71 per cent of women in the area live in fear of a sexual assault, according to a recent survey by Merseyside Police.

The gathering of about 35 had been organised beforehand but took place at the same time as a far-right demonstration against a local hotel housing refugees.

In a post on social media, the group wrote: “They are protesting against refugees in Liverpool while claiming that the protest is for ‘the future of women and children.’ This is lie. They don’t care about protecting women and children.

“They are members of the far right, hiding behind this facade to justify their hatred and racism towards migrant and minority men.

“Here at UK Women’s March we stand with all women and marginalised groups. We stand with refugees.”
