Labour suspends Edinburgh council chief after alleged ‘sexual messages to refugees’

SCOTTISH LABOUR has suspended Edinburgh council leader Cammy Day amid reports he sent Ukrainian refugees messages asking about their sexual preferences.

Mr Day’s future now looks uncertain as the Tory and Lib Dem groups, who he relied on to win the top job, joined SNP leader Simita Kumar’s calls for him to “resign immediately” amid allegations she described as “beyond shocking.”

Speaking to the Sunday Mail newspaper, two Ukrainians say the councillor for the Forth ward followed them on social media and dating apps before inundating them with unsolicited messages.
