Scottish firefighters ‘extremely disappointed’ with lack of government funding for expansion of their duties
Firefighters from the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) take part in the Cuts Leave Scars rally outside the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh, calling for an end to cuts imposed on the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service over the last 10 years, October 26, 2023

SCOTTISH firefighters are “extremely disappointed” at the government’s failure to fund an expansion of their duties, the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) said today.

But the amount was nowhere near enough to address a backlog of property repairs and upgrades needed across the crumbling fire service estate, the FBU warned.
