WELSH First Minister Vaughan Gething will face a motion of no confidence next Wednesday.

The Welsh Conservatives tabled the motion following the collapse of the co-operation deal between Labour and Plaid Cymru and a series of rows involving Mr Gething, including over a dodgy £200,000 donation.

Welsh Tory leader Andrew RT Davies said: “The litany of unanswered questions has paralysed the Welsh government to the point that Gething has been completely unable to take action to address record NHS waiting lists, sliding educational attainment and high economic inactivity.

“It’s time to put an end to the obfuscation, the drift and the infighting and vote no confidence in Vaughan Gething.”

The move comes as Plaid challenged shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves, who visited Ynys Mon today, to distance herself from Mr Gething’s acceptance of leadership campaign cash from a businessman convicted of environmental offences. 

Plaid also urged Ms Reeves, to spell out what a Labour government would really mean for Wales.

Local Plaid parliamentary candidate Llinos Medi said: “The Tory wreckers in Westminster have caused living standards to plummet, but Labour have no ambition for the Welsh economy either and offer no hope to people here.”
