THE FA is “very concerned” about allegations relating to Hull City Ladies co-owner Daniel Johnson.
The Guardian reported that in early April letters about Johnson’s alleged conduct at the club – written by, among others, current and former players, club staff, volunteers and sponsors – were sent to the FA as part of written evidence to support complaints about him, including claims of aggressive behaviour and inappropriate remarks.
An FA spokesperson said: “We are very concerned about the allegations raised with us, and we are in regular contact with the club and their legal representatives about this matter.
“We will continue to provide the club with support and guidance to ensure that these issues are appropriately addressed, and that the welfare of their players and staff is protected.”
Hull City Ladies, who are not affiliated with men’s Championship side Hull, play in the third tier of the women’s game, in National League Northern Premier Division.
The PA news agency understands the FA does not have the jurisdiction to remove directors in the women’s National League, with it not having an owners and directors test as there are no requirements for clubs to have individuals in such a role, but that reviewing the governance structure of teams in the women’s football pyramid is an ongoing priority for the governing body.
The PA news agency has approached Daniel Johnson and Hull City Ladies for comment.
