Ukraine conflict: Henry Kissinger warns against a new world war
In the midst of war fever in the US, the former secretary of state and infamously ruthless cold warrior has warned against attempts to split up Russia and allow the situation to slip into all-out global conflict, reports MARC VANDEPITTE
Directly involved in the 1973 coup in Chile, Vietnam, and many of the cold war's darkest moments, Henry Kissinger's warning is particularly significant, coming from inside the US war machine.

WHEN it comes to foreign policy, Henry Kissinger is one of the most important voices in the US.

For many years he was the national security adviser. He also served as secretary of state under presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford.

In the early 1970s, he masterminded the rapprochement between the US and China to isolate and weaken the then-USSR.
