LUTON boss Rob Edwards knows his side have the ability to hurt Burnley at Turf Moor tomorrow.
Jacob Bruun Larsen’s 85th-minute strike gave Vincent Kompany’s side, also promoted from the Championship last term, a 2-1 victory at Kenilworth Road in October.
Edwards knows his side can move out of the Premier League relegation zone with a win, but admits they will have to be at their best.
He said: “I think it shows we can hurt them [performance during defeat in October].
“If we are not at our best we will lose the game, we respect them.
“You have to get the timing right with the pressing and they can play through you if you get it wrong.
“We showed we can compete with them. We had some really tight games against them in the Championship as well.”
Burnley, five points from safety in 19th, have won only one of their last six league matches.
But Edwards praised the Clarets’ ability, highlighting how difficult a challenge they will pose.
“They are good footballers and they are really well coached,” Edwards added.
“It’s going to be a very difficult game. Every game away from home in the Premier League is hard.
“They can control a game really well and they can look to unbalance you. They look to get behind you at every opportunity, they have weapons and speed.
“They can create different shapes and they have a little bit more variation in their play. They have some good movements and they can be a complicated team to play against.”
Luton finished 2023 well, picking up two wins in their last three games to strengthen their survival bid.
Edwards insisted that despite not feeling pressure from Luton’s senior figures to keep them in the league, he feels the club is able to achieve something special come May.
He said: “We all want to stay in the league and I think we have credit in the bank here and we don’t feel any big pressure from the powers that be.
“I think there’s a real belief that we can achieve something special and one or two are starting to see that.
“We have to get the results to do that ourselves, these are great people who I am working for and that certainly helps us.”
