COMMUNISTS demanded today that the Welsh government condemn the United States government for bombing Venezuela and kidnapping President Nicolas Maduro.

The Welsh Communist Party also called for Senedd members to speak out against the US action, which it said would make Central and South America more unstable.

The party said: “The Welsh Communist Party condemns the servile response of Prime Minister Keir Starmer, which does nothing but underline the role of the British state as a puppy to the gangster imperialism of the United States.

“The Communist Party condemns the government of the United States of America for bombing Venezuela and for kidnapping its President Nicolas Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores.”

The Welsh party statement called the attack a violation of both Venezuelan sovereignty and international law and said it was no coincidence that Venezuela is one of the richest countries in the world in terms of oil.

“The Welsh Communist Party will encourage and join protests across Wales against this barbaric act.”
