Social workers to strike over heavy workloads

SOCIAL WORKERS in West Dunbartonshire are set to strike over unsafe working practices and heavy workloads, their trade union announced yesterday.

Unison’s consultative ballot showed a massive 92.3 per cent voted to take strike action. All of those who took part in the ballot voted in favour of action short of strike action, on a turnout of 87.8 per cent.

Unison Scotland organiser Simon Macfarlane said: “This is a phenomenal result and clearly illustrates the resolve of our members to stand up to unacceptable workloads and unsafe practices in West Dunbartonshire.
