BORIS JOHNSON’S resignation honours list sparked controversy today with Labour criticising the former prime minister’s choices amid a Tory polling crisis.

The party accused peerage candidate Scottish Secretary Alister Jack of looking for an escape route from his role after latest polls show that the Tories could be wiped out in Scotland.

And Labour MP Andy McDonald called for Tory Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen to stand down amid his nomination.
