First step made in bringing Greater Manchester's back under public control
BUS services in Greater Manchester began the process of being brought under public control today.
It is the first step towards the “Bee Network” — bringing bus, tram, rail and cycle-hire services in the city region into one integrated, publicly run system by 2024 and will begin with bus services in Bolton and Wigan.
Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham, who’s been pushing the project, said services will be more accessible, affordable and easy to use.
