Rail adviser lays down tracks for privatisation

THE Tories’ supposedly independent rail adviser yesterday signalled her intention to put Network Rail on track to privatisation.

Not content with every rail route being run for profit, the Tories appointed transport executive Nicola Shaw to examine a sell-off of the tracks themselves.

A preliminary report reveals she is considering “full privatisation” or the partial “sale of routes/assets,” mirroring last year’s carve-up of Royal Mail.
