AMAZON faces more strike action, with more than 1,000 workers expected to walk out at its Coventry site over three days next week.

The GMB union announced today that strike action will take place from Tuesday to Thursday, as its members’ fight for £15 hourly wages and union rights at the retail giant enters its second year.

Amazon workers in Britain have now taken more than 30 days of industrial action since the dispute began in January 2023.

The latest action comes after workers voted overwhelmingly to back an extension of strikes earlier this year.

GMB senior organiser Amanda Gearing said the campaign “is growing stronger every day.

“Next week will mark the start of months of industrial chaos and Amazon is fast running out of options,” she said.

“It’s time for Amazon to listen to our members, it’s time for £15.”

Workers at the retail giant’s new flagship fulfilment centre in Birmingham last month downed tools just weeks after its opening.

An Amazon spokesman said: “We regularly review our pay to ensure we offer competitive wages and benefits. By April, our minimum starting pay will have increased to £12.30 and £13 per hour depending on location.”
