MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE:

The 29th Super League season kicks off tomorrow night with Hull KR at Hull FC for the Humberside derby.

Neither team has won the trophy before, but Hull FC were Division One champions in 1997, the year before Super League began.

Champions Wigan face Castleford on Saturday.

Australia’s NRL pre-season challenge tournament also starts tomorrow, with Melbourne travelling to take on the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in south-west Sydney.

MEN’S CYCLING:

With a month of the new season completed, UAE Team Emirates are once again leading the UCI points table, having scored more than double than last year’s nearest challengers Team Visma / Lease a Bike.

Belgium’s Alpecin – Deceuninck are currently the lowest ranked world tour team, but their most successful riders Mathieu van der Poel, Jasper Philipsen and Kaden Groves are all yet to race.

MEN’S FOOTBALL:

Feyenoord meet last year’s runners-up Roma at Rotterdam’s De Kuip stadium tomorrow evening in the opening game of the Europa League’s knockout round play-offs.

The eight winners from this round will progress into the last sixteen of the competition where they will join the already qualified Bundesliga table-toppers Leverkusen, Atalanta, Liverpool, West Ham, Brighton, Villareal, Slavia Prague and Rangers.

MEN’S ICE HOCKEY:

Britain will travel to Aalborg and face hosts Denmark, Norway and Japan in their quest for a spot at Milan’s 2026 Winter Olympics.

Only Japan are currently below Britain’s 20th place in the world rankings, with Denmark sitting in 11th, one place ahead of Norway.

Britain last competed at a Winter Olympics in 1948, where they finished sixth, but they have already qualified for this year’s World Championships in Czechia.
