NEIL WARNOCK called on his Aberdeen players to take more responsibility after a disappointing cinch Premiership draw with Hibs.
The Dons had come from behind to lead, with Nicky Devlin and Jamie McGrath countering Martin Boyle’s opener for the visitors, but sloppy defending allowed on-loan Bournemouth man Emiliano Marcondes to level for the Edinburgh side.
Interim manager Warnock said: “The players have to take responsibility. The second goal, Nicky [Devlin] has to put the ball out of play with any part of his body. There’s no threat there and all of a sudden it’s a goal.
“For me the art of defending is keeping a clean sheet and the two goals we gave away today were too soft really.
“I know more about my team, now. From 3-0 down the other night, could they continue as they left off and while they conceded another bad goal the heads never went down.”
Hibs boss Nick Montgomery feels his squad are starting to see the benefits of strength in depth after a combination of international duty and new recruits led to a reliance on youngsters in recent weeks.
“The players that came in January are getting some game time and getting fitter and we had Rocky Bushiri back on the bench today, he’s the last player back from international duty.
“We’ve now got a full week of training to prepare for next week against Dundee. I felt everyone contributed today and there was an impact from the subs. The squad looks good going forward now.
“We’ve got a couple of boys in on loan who are high quality. There’s been a lot of young players have made their debuts this season and that’s something I’m really proud of.
“We went through a period of having to rely on them but you want your best players fit and available and I thought you saw today that we’re in a better place than we have been over the last two months.”
