Pay victory as Mick Lynch praises members' ‘tremendous resolve’ and calls off Overground strikes

RMT general secretary Mick Lynch congratulated London Overground members’ “tremendous resolve” today after they accepted an improved pay offer from Arriva Rail London.

“Strong organisation and the threat of strike action has once again yielded results,” he added.

Workers called off planned strikes next Monday and Tuesday after overwhelmingly voting in favour of the latest offer in an e-referendum.

The backdated pay win included a 6.5 per cent uplift on all pay and allowances or a minimum payment of £2,000 for anyone with a salary of under £30,000 for 2023, a pay and allowances uplift at February RPI 2024 or a minimum £1,750 lump sum for those on salaries under £32,000 for 2024 — and a similar uplift for 2025 to be negotiated next February.

Arriva Rail London was contacted for comment.

Transport for London said: “We are pleased industrial action planned for Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 March has been suspended by the RMT.”
