THE Tory Party’s biggest donor has reportedly said that looking at Diane Abbott makes you “want to hate all black women” and said the MP “should be shot.”
Frank Hester, who has donated £10 million to the Tories in the last year, made the comments at a meeting with colleagues, according to the Guardian newspaper.
He said that seeing Britain’s longest-serving black MP on TV meant “you just want to hate all black women because she’s there.”
The businessman from West Yorkshire runs healthcare technology firm the Phoenix Partnership, which has been paid more than £400m by the NHS and other government bodies since 2016.
Stand Up to Racism co-convener Sabby Dhalu told the Morning Star she sent “solidarity to our president, Diane Abbott MP.
“Frank Hester’s vile racism towards Abbott should have no place in Britain. Saying Abbott should be shot and makes him want to hate ‘all black women’ is inciting racial hatred.
“Rishi Sunak must get rid of all such ‘extremists’ from the Tory ranks.”
Labour Party chairwoman Anneliese Dodds called the comments “reprehensible” and demanded Prime Minister Rishi Sunak return all his donations in full.
She said: “Rishi Sunak has claimed that ‘words matter’ and he must know that holding on to that money would suggest the Conservatives condone these disturbing comments.”
The Conservative Party declined to comment.
