Plaid Cymru delegates welcome SNP MP guest's call for immediate ceasefire in Gaza

DELEGATES roared their approval as SNP parliamentary leader Stephen Flynn called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza yesterday.

He said: “On Gaza, I am ashamed that Westminster is sitting on its hands and refusing to call for an immediate ceasefire.

“The next step is clear: Britain must stop selling arms to Israel and call for an immediate ceasefire.

“I hope that in the vote today at the United Nations, the UK finally gets off its hands and votes for an immediate ceasefire.”

Mr Flynn paid tribute to Mark Drakeford’s leadership in Wales and his work as first minister.

He said he would be a hard act to follow and predicted that his successor, Vaughan Gething, would struggle to fill his boots.

“I do not think it will be long before we see a change in Wales and the election of a Plaid Cymru first minister,” Mr Flynn said.

He tore into Sir Keir Starmer, saying that the Labour leader was correct when he said people have a right to be angry about Westminster.

“But when people say they are angry with Westminster they include Sir Keir and Labour as well,” he added.
