LEFT MPs slammed a government cover up today as ministers delayed publication of further papers relating to the disastrous appointment of Peter Mandelson as ambassador to Washington.
They were speaking out after the Commons intelligence and security committee raised concerns that Downing Street was holding back some key documents and redacting others.
Labour’s Kim Johnson said: “It appears that No 10 is still covering up Mandelson’s dodgy dealings.”
She pointed in particular to the disgraced Blairite’s ties to US big tech monopoly Palantir.
And Richard Burgon failed to get an answer from minister Darren Jones when he asked for guarantees that PM Sir Keir Starmer’s former top aide Morgan McSweeney had not been given access to documents beyond his security clearance.
Independent MP Shockat Adam warned Mr Jones that “it is not just the Labour Party being damaged but democracy itself” as a result of the continuing scandal.
Mr Jones promised the further release of documents in June, but there are fears that publication will be delayed until after the Makerfield by-election.
