Extra investment for businesses in Wales announced
A view of bank notes

EXTRA investment in Wales was announced by First Minister Eluned Morgan when she opened the Wales business summit in Newport today.

The FM claimed that more than 10,000 jobs were planned for Wales following the announcement of £1.4 billion in extra investment ahead of the Wales Investment Summit.

Ms Morgan said she wanted to put the economy “front and centre” at the event for 300 business leaders from 31 countries.

“Growing the economy, making a difference to the lives of people in Wales, getting quality jobs so that they can pay their bills — that is my priority,” Ms Morgan said.

The FM said that since the Welsh government announced the investment summit last year, it has landed £16bn of investment into Wales.

Plaid Cymru’s economic spokesman, Luke Fletcher, welcomed the event but said the Senedd had to scrutinise how the money was being spent and that it must not be at the expense of Welsh domestic businesses.
