PRIME Minister Sir Keir Starmer called on Ukraine’s allies to “go even further” in applying pressure on Russia, at a fist meeting of the coalition of the willing in Paris today.

Joining the meeting in a virtual call from Glasgow, he said that Russian President Vladimir Putin “could not be trusted,” according to a government statement.

“That was further underlined by the indiscriminate attacks in Kiev last week, causing significant damage to the British Council and EU delegation buildings,” he added.

Sir Keir Starmer also claimed that the coalition “had an unbreakable pledge to Ukraine, with President Trump’s backing.”

He also welcomed announcements from other coalition members that they would supply long range missiles to Ukraine “to further bolster the country’s supplies.”

Russia has stated that any deployment of Nato states’ troops to Ukraine is a red line which would rule out a ceasefire or peace deal.
