Singer Church vows to take direct action against austerity

VOICE of an Angel Charlotte Church will be taking part in “civil disobedience” and “direct actions” as part of a mass march against austerity, the singer announced yesterday. 

The People’s Assembly Against Austerity protest, which is taking place in less than two weeks’ time on June 20, will see support from politicians, trade unionists, campaigners and celebrities. Actors Maxine Peake and Michael Sheen are also expected to be among the crowds on the day. 

Speaking at a press conference, the pop star explained that she got involved with the People’s Assembly “because I feel like the public is being misled, is being misinformed.
