Denmark’s women’s team said yesterday that they were “deeply angry” after finding out their football federation cancelled Friday’s sold-out friendly against reigning European champions the Netherlands.
Talks broke down between the players union and the Danish football federation (DBU) on Sunday evening over a new pay deal.
The DBU claimed that “ultimate demands” led to the game’s cancellation. Those demands were said to be a 342 per cent wage increase on top of all players being hired.
