New Poor People's Campaign will mark 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King's murder

MARCHES in honour of iconic US anti-racist leader Martin Luther King were held across the country today to mark the 50th anniversary of his assassination.
Dr King was shot on April 4 1968 in Memphis while visiting the city in solidarity with striking refuse workers, whose union, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), led marchers through the city today.
AFSCME president Lee Saunders told the crowds: “Dr King’s work, our work, isn’t done.
