Memorial bid for activist turned fighter Campbell

A FRIEND of fallen revolutionary Anna Campbell has launched a petition calling on Sheffield City Council to erect a memorial plaque in her honour.

Ms Campbell studied at Sheffield University and later served with the Kurdish Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) under the nom de guerre Helin Qerecox.

She was killed last March aged 27 while fighting off a Turkish assault on the Kurdish city of Afrin.
