Home Office seeking to move asylum-seekers into dirty and damp houses, activists charge

ASYLUM-SEEKERS are being moved to dirty and damp houses as part of a Home Office operation to transfer thousands of people from hostels.

The Home Office is seeking to move 9,500 asylum-seekers living in hostels into longer-term accommodation.

So far 2,500 people have been moved, but the operation has been described as “shambolic” by rights charities, with families given just a few hours’ notice to pack up their belongings, the Independent reported today.
