XR activists block entrances to private airport to protest role in climate crisis
EXTINCTION Rebellion (XR) activists blocked all major entrances to a private airport on Saturday in protest against its role in the climate crisis.
Protesters parked a stretch limousine at the gates to Farnborough Airport, Hampshire, as part of the protest, which called on “the world’s super-rich elite of celebrities, oligarchs and business leaders to ditch private flights.”
An XR spokesman said that private flyers, making up just 1 per cent of the world’s population, cause half of aviation’s global emissions.
