CHILDREN and young people with a common neurodevelopmental condition are waiting years for a diagnosis, research by a charity has revealed.

Adoption UK says that the current NHS crisis could cause even longer delays for hundreds of families across Britain who are awaiting an fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) diagnosis.

The study of 512 parents and carers, published today, found that 64 per cent of families in Britain, Northern Ireland and the Irish republic with a child feared to have FASD can face waiting times of up to two years for a diagnosis, in some cases significantly longer.
