Glasgow council failing pupils, parents and teachers with staffing cuts

GLASGOW City Council is failing pupils, parents and teachers with its plans to cut staff numbers, teaching union NASUWT said today.

The union said that a freedom of information request to the council revealed that it had no risk assessment information on how the plans to cut teacher posts would impact pupil and staff safety.

The request also found that the council has higher class sizes in its primary schools than the Scottish average and that “there has been a considerable increase” in the number of assaults on staff and pupils in the past year.
