Elizabeth line staff walk out on New Year's Eve
GRIND TO HALT: Control room workers on the Elizabeth line have taken action on New Year's Eve

KEY staff working on the MTR Elizabeth Line and Rail for London Infrastructure (RFLI) walked out yesterday in separate disputes over pay, working conditions, and safety concerns.

RFLI workers downed tools from 6am yesterday and will continue industrial action until 5.59am today, over issues including unsafe rostering, pay progression delays, and safety concerns.

Control room workers on the MTR Elizabeth line were due to start their strike from 9pm yesterday, in action that will last until 8.59pm  today.

It comes after staff rejected their latest pay offer, and amid calls for improvements such as better holiday entitlements and reductions in working hours.

RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said: “These disputes highlight the refusal of employers to address legitimate concerns about pay, working hours, and safety.

“Our members are standing firm for fair treatment, and the companies must come to the table with serious offers to resolve these issues.”
