MEN’S CRICKET: South African paceman Marco Jansen equalled the world record when he took just 41 balls to claim seven wickets as Sri Lanka collapsed to 42 all out, their lowest ever test match score, in Durban on Thursday.

Five Sri Lankan batsmen bagged ducks and only two reached double figures, with Kamindu Mendis top-scoring on 13, in an innings that lasted 13.5 overs, the second shortest in test history.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Super League action resumes on Saturday afternoon with table-topping Sheffield putting their 100 per cent record on the line when they visit the Durham Palatinates.

Second-placed Oaklands, who are also unbeaten, travel to Colchester to take on the Essex Rebels, Manchester face Caledonia, Nottingham meet Leicester and bottom of the pile London continue their search for a first win of the season at Newcastle.

MEN’S BOXING: Sunny Edwards fights Galal Yafai in an all-English clash for the WBC’s interim flyweight title on Saturday night in Birmingham.

Edwards beat Yafai when they were amateurs in 2015 but Yafai went on to win gold at 2021’s Tokyo Olympics.

Edwards has lost just once, when challenging Jesse Rodriguez for the world title in December 2023, in 22 bouts, while Yafai is undefeated in eight fights since turning professional.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Dundee North End’s astonishing progress in their debut Scottish Cup campaign sees them host Championship side Airdrieonians in the third round on Saturday afternoon.

Musselburgh Athletic will also be playing their first ever third round game when they face Bo’Ness United.

Other fixture highlights include League Two table-toppers Elgin City against League One leaders Kelty Hearts and non-league Linlithgow Rose taking on Raith Rovers.
