WORKERS at First Bus Aberdeen have overwhelmingly backed an above-inflation pay deal negotiated by their union Unite.
Under the two-year deal drivers with a Passenger Carrying Vehicle licence will now be paid £14 per hour after one year.
Administrative staff wages will see a flat-rate increase of £1,007, or have their wages boosted by 5.2 per cent backdated to August 2024 with a further 2.2 per cent the following year, whichever is greater.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham welcomed the deal, worth up to 7.5 per cent over two years.
She said: “Unite has successfully negotiated a pay deal at First Bus Aberdeen for around 200 workers.
“It’s another example of Unite delivering better jobs, pay and conditions across the bus industry.”
Unite industrial officer Isabella Sutherland added the agreement “will produce a welcome pay boost for our members at First Bus Aberdeen.
“We are pleased the deal received the backing of our members. Unite is fully determined to ensure that we improve the rates of pay of bus workers across the north-east.”
