RULE out running “nazi council candidates” in next year’s local elections, the SNP told the Scottish Conservatives yesterday.

MP Seamus Logan demanded Scottish Tories split from their English counterparts by blocking neonazis from being hired as staff or standing in elections after Tory leader Kemi Badenoch voiced her support for Joshua Bonehill-Paine.

Ms Badenoch said former neonazi Mr Bonehill-Paine should be allowed to stand in a Somerset council election before he eventually withdrew amid public outrage.

He was jailed for three years in 2015 for posting antisemitic material ahead of a planned neonazi rally, and was later sentenced again to two years in prison for racially aggravated harassment against then Labour MP Luciana Berger.

The SNP’s Seamus Logan said: “We cannot allow this to happen here in Scotland. 

“Will the Scottish Tories stand nazi candidates in the Scottish Council elections next year? Will they hire nazis, former or otherwise, to their staff?”
