UN humanitarian aid agencies seek $4.1bn to help civilians caught up in Sudan's civil war and for refugees who fled

TWO UN humanitarian aid agencies appealed for $4.1 billion (£3.2bn) in international support today for embattled civilians in Sudan, amid signs that some may be dying of starvation after nearly a year of civil war.
In their joint appeal, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the UN Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs said that half of Sudan’s population requires support and protection.
They said that the requested funds would go to help millions of civilians in Sudan and others who have fled abroad.
